This passage highlights more than one Biblical principle, but for purposes of this post, let’s focus on the healing power that Jesus gives us, the power in our hands. And how it can benefit so many people we care about.

We often forget that so much of what Jesus did in the Bible was bequeathed to us upon his death, so that we, as modern-day disciples, can carry on His mission.

Did you know that laying your hand on someone and speaking a blessing or prayer over them can breathe new life into their body? Jesus encourages us to use our hands on those in need…the sick, the poor, the lost, and the struggling. Even ourselves.

You don’t have to be a street evangelist who ministers in dark areas of run-down cities (and lays hands on the homeless) in order to walk in this authority. Jesus needs and wants you to use His power within your community.

Start by remembering to bless your children. This will be easy because you love them so much and will do anything for them, even if they are lost, confused, belligerent, or not showing you the same in return. Try hugging them and speaking a blessing over them. “In Jesus’ name, you are filled with peace, joy, and good health.” Or, place your hand on their shoulder and tell them how much you and Jesus love them.
