No parables or metaphors needed for understanding here, right? The Lord doesn’t beat around the bush when He makes it abundantly clear that your good deeds will be rewarded, big time. He’s challenging you to “bring it.”
As someone who’s been walking out the “giver” gifting for several years, let me tell you that He means business and keeps His word. Early on in my walk, God would ask me to give when I didn’t have it to give. That wasn’t always easy, but I always tried to be obedient. Sometimes the rewards are were immediate and overwhelming. Sometimes they were more subtle and slower to come. But, they always came.
When my husband started his business several years ago, we didn’t have extra to spare. God always provided for our basic needs, but it was a time when we had “just enough.” When I was volunteering at the homeless shelter, a family who provided dinners had to resign. The shelter had a need, so I volunteered my husband and I to provide dinner for 50 people, two nights each month.
My husband wasn’t as excited about the opportunity when I presented it to him, but I managed to talk him into it. Would you believe that only days later, my husband’s new business secured a big client that would stay with him for nearly two years? The floodgates opened when we stepped up to fill a need in faith, completely relying on our father in Heaven to supply all of our needs and then some. God is so Good!
Go ahead. Test Him.
