Dwell with Him

The most important place to take spiritual authority over is your home (Isaiah 32:18). We can lose sight of the fact that negative spirits/energy can come in regularly if the hatches aren’t batten down, so to speak. This applies to energy brought in from you and others.

My husband and I can sense when something is off in our home. The biggest indicator is that we’ll start bickering a lot about petty stuff, things we usually wouldn’t dispute. When this happens, we take authority. We grab the Bible, walk through every room of our property (garages, basements, and closets count because demons like to hide), scripture out loud, command specific evil spirits to go in Jesus’ name (for example, the spirit of strife), and we pray specific blessings over each room.

I conclude by pleading a cleansing and covering of His protection over the entire house (hint: it’s red and liquid). Sometimes I take a little oil (usually olive or coconut) and rub it along the frames of the doorways —sealing off the space.

You’d be surprised what gets into our sacred spaces when we’re not paying attention. Sometimes, I know right away who brought which demon/negative spirit on which day. Other times, I have no clue. But the result is still the same and so is the protocol. People don’t usually know that they carry around this kind of spiritual baggage. Some of our friends, family, and complete strangers have brought in stuff. We are seasoned in the Lord and no longer take it personally. We realize that negative spirits don’t discriminate and can attach to anyone. We just pray over our house, for those affected, and get the “h#ll” out of there, no pun intended.

We make an effort to keep our home spiritually clean, and people enjoy it here. They open up and feel comfortable. It’s not just because it’s spacious, beautiful, with two hospitable hosts. It’s because we dwell in the secret place of our most High God. He lives here, too.
